Unfortunately, it took a terminal illness for my mother to understand living with pain every day. Just before she died, she said, "I want you to know, I'm sorry for not believing how hard it is to live with pain from day to day." By that time she was on morphine.

chronic pain can appreciate it. You would not beleive some of the crap I
hear from well-meaning family and friends. I've been called everything from
spiritually bankrupt to a drug-addict. None of the naysayers has ever dealt
with pain lasting more than a week. They can sometimes understand the idea
of palliative care in terminally-ill cancer patients, but that's about the
extent of their understanding. "F" 'em all!

Kyle had some thoughtful and considered comments to make. Did you check out
the website he suggested? www.asappain.com?

Moms have a special way of pushing buttons. This seems to be a universal
condition. I'm sorry about your pain, and the fact that your Mom isn't
understanding about it.
