In response to my query about FlexTalk and multi-tasking, bert Cohen wrote:
I have had it speaking while simultaneously playing a music CD and
system sounds. What I notice about the system sounds is that they will be
truncated if FlexTalk wants to speak early in the system sound. Otherwise,
FlexTalk waits until the system sound has completed, then it begins to
speak. The music CD is unaffected. There does not appear to be any overall
lockout of one sound source over the other, but that cannot be guaranteed
for all possible combinations of speech based software. For instance, I
have had the speech hang when switching JFW back and forth between FlexTalk
and DECtalk32 software synthesizers. I dont know if the fault was with JFW
or one or the other of the synthesizers.
FlexTalk 2.1 is priced at $100.00 plus $5.00 for S&H. If your delivery
address is in Mass, please add $5.00 for Sales Tax. Send your personal
check to Adaptive Assists, PO Box 211, Wayland MA 01778. Shipment of the CD
will be by return mail.
FlexTalk is a Windows 95, Pentium application.
