Hi Harry
You should keep the windows update notifier. Somewhere sometime someone
installed the critical update notification on your pc. The best way to
keep it from popping up is to run windows update regularly. This is
found in your start menu usually on the top. You can disable the
notification however if it is causing you problems. I will get the info
you need to remove it and email it to you/list as soon as I find it. The
updates are good for your system as they keep your windows current
however not every update is required by everyone. When you run windows
update it will show you which updates are available for your system. You
then have the option of picking those that you think you need. Selecting
all of the updates will not harm your pc in the least but as I said,
some are not needed. My machine for example, when I run update it always
gives me the option for Euro Conversion. I don't need this so I always
exclude it from the list.
The answer to your question is no, you do not need the updates but it is
advisable to do them and yes, you can disable the update notification.
