There is a famous story that can be used to comment on this article.

The very shortened form of the story is that a half dozen blind guys are
walking along in India and they encounter an elephant. One grabs the trunk
and says "this creature is rope-like", another graps a leg and says "this
creature is tree-like", another grabs an ear and says "this creature is like a
big leaf", etc. etc.

This researcher is looking at the raw information through "varied" colored
glasses. There are a number of differences between Paleo diet and modern
diet, but all he sees is "varied".

However, if you look at the Inuit hunter-gatherer diet, there is not much to
gather, and the diet is undoubtedly less varied than the modern diet, yet the
Inuits are free from diseases of civilization.

This indicates that amongst the differences between Paleo and modern diets, the
"varied" part is not of any importance.

In fact, the evidence is that the foods (and lifestyle) of civilization cause
the diseases of civilization and not the lack of anything that we did or ate a
million years ago.
