I think one answer can be found in med school. I think they are being taught
stuff that is cultural rather than scientific.

I remember back in the days of Dr. Kenneth Cooper and the Aerobics early
days. Most doctors were reluctant to say that aerobic exercise was even good
for you, let alone able to reverse type two diabetes as Dr Cooper
demonstrated.

I had high blood pressure at the time, and my doctor told me low salt was
the only answer. He suggested that I was exercising too much!
