Hi, Fawn.  I, too, love horses and knew long before menopause that I would
never take Premarin.  Last time I looked at the issue, the company that
makes Premarin had moved their operations into Canada because there was such
outrage in the U.S.   Not only were the mares kept pregnant, standing in a
stall so the urine could be collected, the foals were herded into trucks and
taken to slaughter after birth.

If you ever consider HRT, you may be interested in taking Estriol (not
Estradiol) and progesterone.  Estriol is available in the U.S., but must be
compounded by a pharmacist.  It is the one form of estrogen that is
supposedly "safe" for women in that it does not cause cells to divide
rapidly - leading to cancer.  I've been on Estriol for almost a year with
excellent results.
