Hi Butch,
I'm a new THF-6A user. Here's what to do:
1. Use the # key to enter the frequency entry mode. Second, enter the
repeater output frequency. For example, 1 4 6 9 4 0.
2. If you need to select a PL frequency,, you use the 7 key to turn CTCSS
on. When pressing the 7 key continuously, it will cycle as do all the
controls on the THF-6a with the low tone being the default. Default is off.
The first high beep following that turns tone on. The second high beep
turns tone squelch on as well. The third is the DCS mode. You can get by
with the first high tone to transmit a PL.
3. To select the PL, press the A key which is the function key, followed by
the 7 key which puts you in tone select mode. The knob on the top of the HT
dials among the forty-two different avaiable tones. The low beep is 67 HZ.
The twelfth detent after the low beep is 100HZ.
The menus should be enabled for automatic repeater offset, so once you enter
the frequency you should be all set to go. Menu #5 is auto offset. The low
tone is on.
