I am looking for an rv4 for my tr4. What a radio. Yes the ico 753 was
probably the worst xcvrf ever made. the sbe equipment was fascinating. I
agree about the magic, maybe it is because you can get inside an old radio
and feel the sections and what is going on. I guess it is like sailing
compared to power boating. I personally have nothing newer than an omni D,
and know how to get computer interferrence out of radios. Turn off the
computer and the interferrence stops immediately.
I think it is something about things that are hard are valued. I certainly
found my Novice days the most magical and fun I have ever had on the air.
That Globe Chief and sx71. Had to put the braille writer on my lap because
if I tried to write in the log the sx71 qwould jump 20 khz away from my
ongoing qso.
