I am working on the extra and a question on decibel got our local tech net going last night.

If you have a transmitter with a 50 wat output a db -3db and db loss in transmission lines duplexers and combiner with an antenna with a db gain, what is your output in watts?

Can anyone tell me how to solve this step by step. I assume you integrate the losses and gains for a total system gain of 2db but am not sure how to plug that into the formula.

Can you convert all to logs and vis versa to make the problem simpler?

Thank You!
