Actually I don't think this quote accurately sums up the author's point. His point is not at all to push one particular diet, but that there is a phenomenon of diet obsession (any type of diet) that is unhealthy in itself, and similar to eating disorders in terms of the mental obsession & rigidity, and the social isolation. I thought the essay was amusing and interesting. I could relate, definitely.
