Hi Jan,
The disability office will be of great help to you. I
hope you will be moving into the dorms at UGA. Living
in the dorms is a great experience! You can be very
independent, but yet in a supportive environment. You
don't have to worry about the important stuff like
food (use the campus meal plans), water, and shelter.
You don't need transportation. But you *do* have to
figure out how bathe yourself, dress yourself, and do
your own laundry. It's a great chance to have a
social-life, especially if you have a lived a
sheltered life with few friends and such. There are
always events on campus that can entertain you.
I moved into the dorms as a Junior, transfering from a
community college. Living in the dorms on campus was
the best thing for me during my college years!
(Before then, I relied way to much on my mommy to do
everything for me.)
