I had a visit with my gastroenterologist (not related to celiac) and he
showed me the current journal of the American Gastroenterological
Association and a featured article with the headline that Celiac is
"Underreported" by gastro doctors. Although they should have said that
they're MISSING the diagnosis, at least they are getting the message, and it
should help others. By the way, maybe most of you know this web site, but
the AGA site (www.gastro.org) may be helpful to some of us. It's hard to
find anything about Celiac, but some of the info offered does relate to
symptoms many have. Also, it offers a locator for those seeking a
gastroenterologist in any U.S. area or other countries. Just click on
"public section."
One more thing: If you haven't read the NY Times best seller "FAST FOOD
NATION," by Eric Scholosser, do so! It's fascinating reading! You will not
only find our celiac dilemma a blessing (avoiding the fast food places), you
will also learn some serious cautions about eating in general (processed
foods etc.). It will be life saving to family members who still eat at fast
food places, and you will also want to give a copy to all the people you
care about! It's available at Amazon.com for 9.77 in paperback and
available at all book stores. -- Ron
