My son who is now 9 was diagnosed at 2 1/2 with CD. After the
diagnosis, I have never had him back to a GI specialist. We have just
been going for physicals yearly and having his bloodwork done to verify
that things are still in the normal range. The past several years his
tTG IgA Antibody has been around 5 or 6; his gliadin IgA Antibody has
been between 3 and 6; and his gliadin IgG Antibody has been high
(between 50 and 100). The first two I understand are fine but the last
concerns me. It doesn't seem to bother his pediatrician since she says
that the first two are more indicative of celiac than the third.
My questions are 1) should I be concerned about his gliadin IgG level??
Does this mean that he is getting gluten from somewhere??
2) should I be seeking follow up with a GI specialist? If so, for what
exactly? Are there additional tests to be done??
Thanks in advance,
Michele in MD
