<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

I am sorry it took me so long to get this summary together. It has been a
hectic couple of weeks. Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond
to my question with your advice. I feel much better about the situation now.

Here is a list of all the thyroid meds that are tolerated well and used
successfully. The number of people that reccomended each follows it.

Levoxyl-a GF generic (9)
Synthroid (13) also one person is also sensitive to corn.
Cytomel and synthroid combo (1)
Levothroid (4) this one has no startch but does have lactose.
Armour (7) one person using Armour said they didn't do well with any
synthetic T4 supplement.
Thyrotrophin (1) obtained through a Dr. or a chiropractor/nutritionsit.
Levothyroxine sodium (2)
Thyrolar (1) recommended to check

this out, they didn't know if it is GF.

One person who uses Armour natural thyroid also uses a natural progestrone
cream and injected vitamins, said the B12/folic acid injections and the
progestrone cream helped more for the brain fog.

One person suggested that I eliminate dairy and sugar. (I already have
eliminated dairy and the only sugar I ger is from fruits.)

One person said they use the dye free synthroid.

Another person uses synthroid and does not feel any better, but has no
gluten related problems even though the manufacturer will not guarentee it
to be GF. This person also said her brothers fiancee used a pig synthroid
by hormel and found it to be less effective and went back to synthroid.

One person who uses Armour with good results had serious problems when she
tried to switch to synthroid.

I did have one person say that synthroid was never approved by the FDA and
heard it

 wasn't GF from this list.

Finally one person said that she read that foods can sucessfully used
instead of thyroid meds. Suggestions were Brussel sprouts and turnips for a
start....Have to do more research on that one.

Someone reccomended that I just mail the script to the compounding
pharmacy if my Dr. wouldn't cooperate. I did do this only to find out that
they need the Dr. "O.K." to do this or it is against the law. They were
calling him to confirm it....I'm still waiting. Meanwhile I am searching
for a new Dr. I have very limited options with my insurance. It is very
very frustrating to say the least!

Some other web sites That were reccomended to me:

College Pharmacy in Colorado- http://www.collegepharmacy.com
Stokes pharmacy- http://www.stokesrx.com
Thyroid board- http:www.thyroid.about.com/
Broda Barnes Foundation to help find a Dr. who is open to alternatives

Again, I want to thank Everyone who took the time to help! I really
appreciate the support and advice. I am sorry if I did not get a change to
thank each one of you individually. Hopefully I can get this straightened
out soon!

Dee
