256 DIMM half recognised

I have a one side 8 chip DIMM 256 MB. If I connect it to a PRM 23I E1 mobo
the bios reads only 128 MB, however if I use it on a P4 MS 6825 mobo, you
can read the 256 MB completly.
I have made the test with three PRM 23 and three  MS 6825.
Any explanation?
