Nancy,

Go see a gastro specialist ASAP. We also have been looking for Brian's
problems for the last year. I finally took him to a gastrolentologist two
weeks ago and he tested positive for the Celiac blood screening. He is
being scheduled for an intestinal biopsy within the next two weeks. It is
my understanding that the milk proteins and gluten proteins are very simliar
and someone with a reaction to one is more likely to have problems with the
other. Anyway, Brian has similar symptoms, diarrhea, rash, anemia, and
malabsorption. Does Tyler have problems with night waking? Brian does, but
it is better since being dairy free. Brian's symptoms become much better
after eliminating milk (gained 4 pounds the first month) but we were still
having problems with diarrhea. Brian has been on a custom vitamin formula
(for kids with Down syndrome) which is adjusted based on blood and urine
testing for the past 7 years. This vitamin formula just kept getting added
to with more iron and other vitamins and minerals as the years went on. The
fact that the is getting all this supplementation has probably helped him
from becoming extremely sick although it has also probably masked the
symptoms enough to keep us from getting an earlier diagnoisis. So I guess
the vitamins have been both good and bad for him.

Anyway, I know how you feel and I hope you get an answer soon!
Lori
