If they are free programs, I'd get rid of them.
If they want to get paid, you may not have any choice but to
"do that", or pay them...

If you have paid, and they are still harrasing you, I'd register with
a bogus home address and temporary e-mail address and not get
their stuff anymore unless I really liked to play "this game"...

Note that by registering over the years, I have actually received
signifcant returns (money and otherwise) from some companies.

  I have at least 3 little icons on my task bar that blink away and try to make
  me register software. I don't want to register, I've right clicked on them
  and selected 'exit', or 'remind me later' and I've used a program which
  allowed you disable some of those icons, but the ones I wanted to disable
  weren't there. How do I get rid of these icons?
