  What OSes are these machines running?  Does either have an Internet
connection?

  The "simplest" way would be to put the office machine on an "always
on" Internet connection such as a DSL or cable-modem service, with
file sharing enabled.  But you might prefer not to be sharing your
files with every script kiddie in the world, so I wouldn't say this
was the "best" option....
