Just installed a new HP Scanner, connecting to my USB port.

Scanner would not work.

Reconnected to parallel port and scanner works.

1. How do I check to see if UBS port is working?

2. If it is not working, how to I get it working?

3. Probably has something to do with BIOS, but I can not figure out how
to access it.

I have a Compaq 5441, Win 98 SE.

As usual, Compaq's user guide has no information, not even listing USB in
their index.
Also went on their web site with these questions, but of course they
haven't answered me.

Can anyone help me?
