I have used something as simple as four metal plates with
holes in both ends to "extend down" from the proper sized drive above...
(I used a certain type of window shade bracket.)
The only caution I can think of is to be sure the drive has proper air flow
and is cooled, if required. (All my hard drives are fan cooled these days...)
With the above, you need good access to BOTH sides of the drive(s) to
mount the plates (and maybe longer screws.)
A "system" used by some is to just leave the Hard Drive laying in the
bottom of the case, and NEVER move or disturb the case...
There have been discussions about if it is necessary to manually bond
the drive to the case ground electrically... It is always a good idea...
