Fellow Listers,
I have a PII 450 256ram 16.8 gig HD running Win98se. HD properties say I
have 3 gigs empty on drive. I ran Norton Utilities Speed Disk and got an
error message saying it couldn't write to drive C: and then ran Norton disk
doctor. Disk doctor did its stuff, including scandisk, and reported no
errors. I run Windows scandisk and find no errors. But when I do Windows
defrag, it stops and I get BSOD of Error Writing to C drive, data or files
may be lost.
I have GoBack and resorted to an earlier boot which seemed to correct the
problem. Ran defrag again and now I'm getting the same BSOD over and over
again almost back to back. I'll hit the space key each time, for about 6-10
times, and then it seems to go back to normal for a while.
Does it sound like maybe a write head (?) on the HD may be bad? Virus? I
have newly update/scanned NAV 2002. Any other ideas? Suggestions on getting
rid of the BSOD?
TIA,
Kevin Nowicki
