The length of the history is a function of the size of gobackio.bin and the usage.  A lot of deleted files, installations, downloads, ad infinitum will fill up the *.bin, and shorten the length of the history. If the computer is not run for days at a time, you will have stuff going back far longer than usual.  I usually keep mine in the neighborhood of 3-5 days history, which with my usage doesn't require such a large *.bin.  I can get that length of history on 500 Mb of *.bin, which I hardly miss on a 40 gig HD.  As I've said before, if you don't have Goback, you need to get it right now.  Once you've had it you'll feel nervous without it.
