Go back into device manager, highlight the secondaryIDE controller, then click remove and yes to the warning.  Have your Win 98 disk handy if IBM didn't load Win 98 into C:\windows\options\cabs on your hard drive.  Then do a shutdown restart.  As soon as the POST screen finishes, press F5 to startup in safe mode.  Choose safe mode (usually #3) from the choices. In safe mode go to device manager and check the IDE controllers to make sure you don't have multiples of them.  If you do, highlight the busmaster and remove it, which ought to remove the controllers. If you don't, no problem. Then close device manager, and do a shutdown/restart.  Windows should install them correctly when it boots up.
