You might want to check with the manufacturers web site for new drivers. I
went from about 28-33k to 43-45k after installing new drivers on my internal
winmodem.
Regarding noise on the wires, I live in an 85 unit apartment building. A number
of other residents have been getting DSL installed, we are about 4/10 mile from
the local phone office. What the installers are doing here is testing the line
for noise, and if it is poor, they switch it with someone else's line with less
noise. Good luck.
