Rice is one of the paradoxical foods that has a high glycemic
index but a moderate insulin index. See

the table, the insulin index of brown rice is about the same as
that for fish. White rice is higher, but not as high as its
glycemic index would lead one to predict. I wonder what the
insulin index of wild rice might be.
