Sharon, Quark is something I know little about but I hear that it is really
not very accessible.
Ask for the PDF files, then get Acrobat 5 if you don't already have
it. The non-free version has a "save as RTF" that seems to work pretty
well for text. I've noticed that sub and superscripts end up on the line,
but the Greek and other symbols translate fine. It's pretty easy to change
font and print to Tiger. WinTriangle has a menu item to "change to Tiger
font" that changes text, symbol, etc. fonts correctly - you cannot always
do this with a "select all" and change font if you have to preserve Greek
letters, etc. You'll have to re-enter the displayed
equations. Unfortunately we have no magic bullet for that.
Will they send the graphics? Insist on it. You can copy and paste into
some editor and make the tactile graphics pretty quickly once you get the
hang of it.
This still takes time, but a whole lot less than the time needed to correct
OCR errors and clean up graphics dirt from scanned hard copy.

PS My memory is that you have a maintenance/extended warranty
contract. That means you get an upgrade to 3d during the maintenance.
