Bank One Installs 'Talking' ATMs in Michigan To Serve Visually Impaired
Customers

Bank One has installed eight "talking" ATMs at
Michigan banking centers to offer more convenient
banking for visually  impaired customers.

"Our 'talking' ATMs give visually impaired customers immediate access
to their funds whether the
banking center is open or closed," said Executive
Vice President Charles Shoemaker, who has
responsibility for Bank One's banking centers in Michigan. "We're proud
to be the
first bank in Michigan to introduce the voice-enhanced ATMs that make
banking more  convenient for visually
impaired customers."

Users only need a set of plug-in stereo headphones to hear confidential,
step-by-step instructions
to operate the specially equipped ATMs. Customers may request a set of
headphones either through
the banking center or by calling Bank One toll-free,
877-241-8665.

Customers can learn more about talking ATMs and
their locations in  Michigan
 and other Bank One locations by calling the same toll-free 877 number.

The new technology represents a significant investment for Bank One,
Shoemaker said. Costs
range from $5,000 to $50,000 per machine to retrofit or replace a
machine.

Customer reaction to Bank One's "talking" machines has been very
positive.

"This is access that means empowerment. Bank
One has gotten it right," said Neal Freeling of the
Detroit Northwest chapter of the Michigan Council of the Blind and
Visually
Impaired.

In Michigan, customers will find "talking" ATMs
at the following Bank One banking centers:

* 4154 Davison Road,
Burton

* 37408 Harper,
Harper-Metro Parkway,
Clinton Township

* 200 Renaissance Center,

By year-end, Bank One will have about 130 such ATMs
in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas and Wisconsin.
Bank One also plans to install another machine at its
Main Office in Detroit early next year.

Bank One operates a network of about 250
banking centers and 400 ATMs in Michigan. BANK ONE CORPORATION (NYSE:
ONE),
headquartered in Chicago, is the nation's sixth largest bank holding
company, with assets of more than
$270 billion. Bank One offers a full range of financial
services to commercial and business customers and consumers. It can be
found on the Internet at
