Typed in " floppy + fungus" in yahoo.
http://google.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=floppy+%2b+fungus
first hit is an article about recovering data from floppys attacked
by a "lubricant eating fungus".
Also some Fuji film references to "fungus resistant" floppys
check it out, interesting stuff.

the growth of fungus on diskettes by storing them in an airtight container,
with dessicant, and possibly in the icebox, sealed with dessicant.
