Sounds like you have Windows 95 original or SP1, (Win95A).
If so, there is a hard drive partition size limit of 2G (each).
IF your OS is as I have guessed, there are two things you can do.
Upgrade to a newer OS, (Win95B uses FAT32 and can handle that size drive),
or partition (and format) the rest of the drive in 2G chunks.
You will have what looks like 10 hard drives, each with its own letter.
You may also have a BIOS limitation at 8.4G depending on the age of
the machine. For that you can flash your BIOS, get an add-in card, OR
uses a software solution that comes with the drive called a DDO
or disk manager type program.
