This same symptom happened to a friend of mine. His problem turned out to
be a defective color cartridge. It did not have the circuitry included!
Compare your new cartridge to an old one to see if the electric connections
are intact, and if not, return it for a good one.

> My old color cartridge was running out of ink, so I changed it. My
printer suddenly stopped printing color in either Win2000 or Win98SE. There
seems to be no problem with insertion, and I've done this hundreds of times
before. The cartridge is correctly marked for this printer. There is no
protecting tape on the cartridge. All of the settings seem to be correct,
and in any case, I haven't touched them.
