This has happened to me in the past also. Here are some of the offending
culprits. I can remember being puzzeld because the CMOS was configured
properly.
1. CD-Rom power was not connected properly
2. Slave/Master/Cable select switch not set right on CD or HD.
3.CD and HD not compatible on same IDE ribbon.
