Welcome to the list, Wendy!

It's easy -- no sugar, no white potatoes, no grains, no dairy, no legumes.
Some of us eat a bit of hard cheese occasionally.

As for foods to watch out for: Some of us have trouble with "new world
foods" including peppers and tomatoes (and chocolate and white potatoes), so
watch for responses to these. Some have trouble with nuts although nuts are
paleo (except for peanuts which are legumes.) For many people, nuts will
cause a weight loss stall, some can't stop binging once they start eating
nuts, and some have skin problems or reactions to nuts.

I would strongly suggest not trying to do low carb paleo at the beginning.
Doing so will very likely cause cravings and stresses the body.

What works for me is to eat protein and low carb veggies at breakfast and
lunch -- almost no carbs essentially-- then eat a sweet potato, yam, or
other starchy veggie along with protein and veggies for dinner. I eat a bit
of brown rice occasionally at dinner, even though it is not paleo, and it
doesn't cause me any problems. I want to stay out of ketosis. Even so, I
suppose I eat perhaps 70g to 100g of carbs per day, which is a "reduced
carb" diet.

Good luck! I think participating on the list is an excellent way to lose
weight and be healthier :-)
