Mary, I think, and I am sure some of the knowledgeable fitness people on the
list would agree, that a treadmill would not tend to efficiently develop
what you describe as lift and what I presume to be fast twitch leaping
ability, strength. Would he enjoy rope skipping? More ballistic forms of
exercise (known as plyometrics) would seem to be in order. It sounds to me
that he is blessed with the more elusive part of the equation, timing and
rhythm (I wish I had some). His instructor might be able to prescribe some
dance specific exercises that would build strength and leaping power.
Rick Strong
more exercise help?? The teacher said he is not able to lift very well and
if you know Irish dancing, there is a lot of lift involved. He has perfect
timing, executes the steps well, just lacking lift. He loves being on stage
and loves performing. He has done well lin competition but is now at a
level where he needs some lift. Thanks, Mary
