An interesting news article for all of us to read. From the onset, I had
this feeling that sooner or later, party militants will be questioning the
prospects of NCP forming an alliance with APRC. From my analysis, sooner or
later, the truth will unfold about Sherriff Mustapha Dibba's decision to
join ranks with APRC. For the benefit of history please revisit the
political pacts that was made between JC Faye's Democratic Party and IM
Garba Jahumpa's Congress Party with the People's Progressive Party in the
late 60s. Mr Momodou Sidibeh and the rest can be my guide here on how these
"Banjulian" Politicians crossed over to join PPP in the hope of weakening
the chances of having a government under Pierre Sarr Njie's United Party.

NCP Disgruntled Swipe At Dibba

Sheriff Dibba the National Convention Party boss and Speaker of the
National Assembly has come under blistering criticisms from supporters of
his party who accused him of destroying the NCP in his "hunt for a top job"
with the government.

Addressing an NCP in-door meeting on Thursday in Latrikunda Sabiji Lamin
Manneh an organising committee member claimed that during a series of
discussions between the NCP and APRC leadership at State House it was
agreed that the party would be accorded two ministerial posts after the
National Assembly election. He added that to their surprise, this agreement
was floundered when Dibba was nominated to the National Assembly and
subsequently elected Speaker while no ministerial post was accorded to the
party. He added that after a series of protests to the party leadership
without any response they have now realised that Dibba has only joined the
APRC to get a top job in government at the expense of the party.

"Looking at the way things are one can only see the dubious nature of the
coalition which include the party leader alone. How can other NCP key
figures like Gibou Jagne, Majanko Samusa among others who over the years
played crucial roles in the party were left out" he inquired.

He added that although at first they had earlier consented to the
coalescing of the two parties but they have now realised that the alliance
has "killed the principle and aspiration the party has long been respected
for".

Mamadou Kalley a veteran NCP supporter accused Dibba of forging an alliance
with Jammeh for his own selfish interest to the detriment of the NCP. He
said Dibba can still redeem himself inn the eyes of NCP loyalists if he
revisits the order of things and ensure that the APRC government fulfills
it own bargain of appointing NCP functionaries in top government positions.

Others like Aja Rohey Nyang, Amadou Saidy-Khan and Sulayman Ceesay called
on Dibba not to be tempted with the post accorded to him but should fight
for the interest of his colleagues who have one way or the other suffered
in NCP's quest for the restoration of democracy.

Frantic effort to solicit a reaction from Dibba proved futile as he was
said to have been busy. However Jim Jeng the NCP propaganda secretary who
dismissed the allegation called on what he called NCP detractors to openly
report the matter to the party's executive. He said Dibba only formed an
alliance with President Jammeh's government to foster democracy and
meaningful development in the country.
