I'm investigating the same question as it is fast becoming necessary for me
to do some tower and antenna maintanence in order to continue defying
gravity with my stuf.

One thing that I have been told several times is that if you use one of the
fiberglass covered verticals, be sure to invest in a Polyfazer or some form
of static discharge unit. Otherwise, the first thunderstorm will vaporize
your investment.
