I tried 1.41.04, 1.41.01, and 1.40.01, and none of them made my SMC 7004ABR work.  I replaced the router under warranty, and even with a new one and the latest firmware, it still didn't work.  Bought a Linksys router just like it, plugged it in, and with no configuration at all my network worked, something I was unable to do with the SMC for 9 months. I wouldn't wait around for the SMC to get better, because it won't.
