If you have your Win 98 CD, go to accessories/system tools/system information/tools/system file checker. From there you can retrieve all the driver files needed from the Win CD. Since the driver is installed with the Windows installation, possibly one of the files is corrupted. You can also remove the parent device and IDE controllers by highlighting them and clicking remove in device manager. On a restart Windows should load them again. Have you tried doing a "thorough" scandisk run to see if the drive has bad sectors? The 560 is an old enough model to have a drive with problems.
