Heart infections are NOT diet related.  For instance, individuals with a history of a heart murmur are istructed to take antibiodics before going to the dentist for a cleaning -- otherwise, they can be susceptible to an infection that can spread to the heart.  This is only one example, but the point is, infections can spread to the heart regardless of one's diet.  Dr. Atkins did not suffer a heart attack caused by blockage in his arteries, rather, his heart arrested -- ie stopped beating. Let's send him our prayers.
