We would love it if we could afford grassfed meat. Someday we will
raise our own. In the meantime, we can only afford to spend under $2.00
a pound for any type of meat we eat. There are no sources of grassfed
beef locally so we would have to buy in bulk from a distant farm. We
simply do not have the money to buy a quarter of a beef. In the winter,
we will be getting free range Soay lamb (an old breed) for a great deal
(under two dollars a pound - we have to cut and wrap ourselves), but in
the meantime, what do you suggest? Is supermarket meat better than no
meat at all? We raise our own chicken eggs and duck eggs (free range),
but, unfortunately, I am unable to eat eggs (my husband and daughter
love them, thank goodness), the same goes for fish. The only fish I can
eat is shrimp and some cod. The taste of fish just makes me queasy. My
husband and daughter love sardines and other types of fish.
Where would we get our protein intake if not for supermarket meat?
Proir to paleo diet we were not eating much meat at all (maybe a few
times a month) due to worries regarding chemicals, hormones, etc.
Thanks,
Lori
