The DX399 is considerably smaller than a standard 5x7 file card, which I
just measured it against. I'd guess something like 5 1/2" wide by 3 1/2" or
maybe 4" high and about an inch or so thick. The speaker _is_ small and,
hence, a bit on the thin side but it sounds like a million dollars with good
stereo phones. There are a combined AM attenuator/FM stereo switch and an
external AM antenna jack. There are 4 band selector buttons and when SW is
selected, there are presets for all of the major bands. You can assign a
maximum of 54 presets of your own. It also has a clock and can function as
either a buzzer or radio alarm. Primary on/off is via a very light push
button that our cat has already learned how to work, so I use the override
switch that, when the radio is off, locks everything down and when it's
playing, locks everything but the volume. There's a telescoping whip
attached, too. It uses 3 double A batteries and comes with an AC wall cube.
Very nice package for $70.
