Just a minor point to add to what everyone has said.

How well a particular laptop works often depends on where they put the
INSERT key, since Jaws uses INSERT for a lot of its commands. So check out
the keyboard layout in advance. Some key placements make it truly painful
to use, but if INSERT (& a couple others like PAGEDOWN) are sensibly
located, you might not need to switch to the Jaws laptop keyboard layout at
all.
