Does anyone know of any celiac specialists in Grand Rapids, Michigan???

I was diagnosed in Jan. of '96 by a very highly respected
Gastroenterologist. He told me he had no idea what it was, but that I
should try a GF diet for a few months and then see what happens. I
recently called him for more information. He said there was no more new
information and he told me he questioned whether celiac was an accurate
diagnosis as he really felt my problem was anorexia and anxiety. Who
wouldn't be anxious--I was 24, newly married, my grandmother had just
died of stomach cancer (untreated celiac, pernicious anemia and thyroid)
and I thought I was going to die??!! He wanted to retest me after a
period of time on a gluten diet. That would kill me!

I am already low in b-12, have continued with the diahrrea (no pain as
long as I am GF), and still have intermittant headaches with mild
fatigue. My doctors are aware of all this and don't seem concerned.

In the 6 years since I've been diagnosed, I have experienced infertility, 2
miscarriages, one easy pregnancy with gestational diabetes and a very
difficult pregnancy. This last miscarriage I was prescribed a prenatal
vitamin that contained gluten--and despite repeated calls to the Dr. with
concerns of extreme illness and abdominal pain, they would not schedule an
appointment before 12 weeks. The new research I have come across has
scared me into realizing this is something I must accept and obtain
adequate medical care.

So where do I go from here? Anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry for unloading--Thank you in advance for any advice. I will be sure
to summarize the info.
