Hi All--
I'm SO behind in my summaries...I apologize. For my
first summary, my questions were: Does anyone know of
an Italian salad dressing I can use as a marinade -
and is Wendy's Ceasar side salad gf (not the dressing,
but the cheese and bacon bits they add)?
Thanks to everyone who responded! More people seemed
to know of Italian salad dressings than how to answer
the Wendy's Ceasar side salad question. I've separated
the answers to the two questions below:
GF Italian Salad Dressing
Paul Newman's Italian with Balsamic (sp?) Vinegar (the
regular Italian is NOT gf) NOTE: Another person wrote
that Paul Newman's Italian was gf - best to check with
the company.
Hellman's Italian - 4
Good Seasons (in a dry packet) - 4
Seven Seas Viva Italian (NOT the low fat)
Wishbone Red Wine Vinaigrette
Wishbone Italian (the Creamy Italian contains soy
sauce and so is not gf) - 4
Consorzio Baja Lime
Annie's Balsamic Vinaigrette (better than the Tuscany)

Wendy's Ceasar Side Salad (w/o dressing)
I had to call the company on this. According to
Wendy's, yes, the cheese and bacon on the Ceasar side
salad is gf, thus making the entire salad gf - you
need to use your own dressing. On the other
hand...BEWARE! After I called them, I went out of town
over the weekend and ate one meal at Wendy's. I
originally ordered a plain baked potato, but they
didn't have any ready, so I ordered a Ceasar side
salad and a small chili. I had a gluten reaction, but
because I put the chili on the salad, I don't know
which caused the problem (guessing that it was the
salad) I frequently order a garden side salad and top
it with chili (cheaper than ordering the taco salad)
and have never had a problem with that. So, my advice
is to either verify for yourself that the Ceasar side
is gf or order at your own risk. I will probably
report this to Wendy's, but I'm not sure it will help
much.
Thanks, again, to all who responded...hope the
information has been helpful.
