Barrier-free Information Technology: EASI's online workshop on how to make
a barrier-free information technology
campus starting February will include discussion about the new 508
regulations.  The workshop is expanded to also include a new instructor,
Joe Lazzaro, an adaptive technology specialist for the state of Mass.

Also, Barrier-free Web design: EASI's online workshop on how to make a
barrier-free web site starting February is based in the Web Access
Initiative work and will ALSO include discussion about the new 508

These workshops have been taken by thousands of people from more than three
dozen countries over the last several years.  Instructors are experienced
in adaptive technology and web design as well as having years of teaching
experience.  The work is all done asynchronously using the web and e-mail.
The work is planned to run for four weeks and encourages interaction
between workshop participants.  However, it can be done independently at
your own, personal pace.  The workshops are enriched when everyone shares
their questions and experiences.

Computers and the Internet are becoming rapidly more and more significant
in K-12 and higher education.  It is important that these systems be made
as accessible as possible to guarantee full inclusion for students with
disabilities.
