I would like to share a few points about ALVA products for Macs. I have
been in close contact with this company for a couple of years now. They are
really quite nice and very willing to help. Do not exclusively blame them
for shortcomings to the product or delays in getting updates out.

I know that Apple has really dragged their heels on getting the information
to AAGI so that they could provide the upgrades needed of OS 10. Maybe they
have it now, but they didn't several months ago and system 10 was already
released. It is an Apple issue.

I agree that the resolution in InLarge isn't close to that of other screen
magnifiers, and the AAGI staff will readily admit the shortcomings of their
screenreader, Outspoken. But, if you must use a MAC this is what you get to
use. I personally wish that Microsoft would be offered better competition.
I guess that Apple has gotten so burnt by them that they have become a
secret agency, which doesn't help our cause at all. But, back to AAGI (or
ALVA), not all agencies are as big or well funded at some others and so
research and design issues don't compete well at all levels. I do not work
for AAGI, but I like the folks there and they are all I have for Apple
access.
