Hi all
On a cd writer drive an error"power configuration area error" is coming up
on a customers drive when trying to burn with adaptec software on a cd-r.The power
config area
is used to determine the amount of power required to burn that type of disc.
Now this errror is usually due to incompatable recording media as I understand it.
I tried a cd-rw and had no such error.I also tried her discs on another
drive in another machine....again also fine.I then tried her discs in her machine
and again had no problem. I sent her computer back and she
is again experiencing the same problem.
The "area error" can also indicate a failing laser. Is there a test to determine
if it is the laser or the disc?Is a certain type of cd-r less likely to produce this
error?
thank you in advance
Bill Stephen
