Hi I find that going into control panel/ network and reselecting the "client
for microsoft for networks, then making sure it is the one also selected in
the primary network loggon section and finally hitting "ok" helps to  reset
the protocols.  you may be asked to reboot the computer so do so and see if
this helps.

This sometimes occurs as a result of many failed attempts to get the modem
to work correctly and will result in it working sometimes and not others.
