I was also raised on crap (If I may paraphrase), but my vision
was excellent until about age 40. Then the deterioration began.
Now, at 48, I need bifocals. It's tough on those of us whose
eyes go bad somewhat later, because we don't have the habits of
eyewear. I still find glasses annoying, and I forget to wear
them sometimes, not realizing until I get to work that I can't
really see. I have bifocal contact lenses, which are better, in
that I get a more natural visual experience -- those who have
worn glasses all their life may have forgotten the ease of gazing
from side to side without rotating the whole head. Of course,
contacts have disadvantages too.

I wish that diet could reverse the trend, but almost five years
of paleo have not delayed the deterioration of my vision, most of
which has happened in the last five years. And of course I can't
deny that I punish my eyes by doing an immense amount of reading,
books and on-line.
