As "pure breds" are inbred more, each later generation is "dumbed down".
Something which is familiar in the rural South LOL. My mixed Lab/Chow is
dumber than sh*t, but you have never seem a more devoted, loving animal. And
going around 110  lbs. her bark at the door is the best burglar alarm one
could wish for.
