I have been on the periphery of a soap opera. My daughter(adopted when she
was 6 mos. old) found her birth mother about six years ago. Everything was
fine, but she told
us that my daughter's biological father was Person A. Well, just recently the
birth mother recanted her story and said no, my daughter "real" father was
Person B! This was OK and since he now lived in Memphis we met him and had he
and his wife over and it went off as well as such things can. Needless to
say, my daughter, Judy, developed some trust issues with her birth mom and
wanted to have a DNA test done to definitively determine is Person B was her
"real" father. He was more than happy to cooperate. Well the DNA test
indicated there was "0" probability that Person B was my daughter's
biological father. This broke his heart as well as my daughter's, who called
her birth mother and told her she wanted nothing to do with her ever again.
Person B, who is a stereotypical "good ol' boy" and who is super nice is
broken hearted. All of this is to say lies and secrets are very destructive
when it comes to such matters.

I grieve for my daughter and Person B. The reason the birth mom lied is
another soap opera for another time. According Person B, there are about four
candidates for my daughter's paternity and is stuff only seen on Jerry
Springer!
